Fresh from the Mind of McPhitty

This country is headed in the WRONG direction!

I am greatly disturbed by the path the United States is on.  I really don’t know what to say, but sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words:

The Socialist States of America (coming soon?)

Comments are welcome.

Microsoft bingTM

Microsoft is pushing bing, so what is bing? Microsoft’s Google clone. Supposedly it’s the newest, coolest search site, at least that what Microsoft wants us to think. The reality is it screams “See, we’re just like Google, so use us instead of them”. Seriously, the links at the top of the page are exactly the same ones that Google has had for years.  Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Google is better, but it is funny.  There is one cool feature in bing’s video search, though. When you hover over the videos, they autoplay.  I also like the fact that bing searches a number of video sites.  Anyway on the similarities, judge for yourself:

I found a new Sci-Fi website

I just ran across Republibot.com today.  I haven’t decided whether I like it or not, but I do like their tag line: “The Science Fiction Site for people who aren’t Drooling Kneejerk Liberals”.  That alone deserves major props.  The jury’s still out on the rest of the site.

If I Were President… #2

What can I say, the country’s officially in the crapper.  Let’s face it, we live in a Socialist state, we just haven’t realized it yet, but if I were President, I would support business, and the Constitution.  So just for the heck of it, here are a few more platform points:

  • Taxes
    • No VAT in America - VAT (Value Added Tax) is a really bad idea, it is being pitched as essentialy a national sales tax, but it is far more subtle, opaque, and insidious than that. VAT is a tax that is added to the price of goods throughout the manufacturing process. Tha means that stuff would cost more, and that the process would be completely opaque to the average consumer. This is a recipe for unbridled Government greed, and economic disaster. Now a national sales tax is not necessarily a bad thing, but it should be a retail sales tax, and it should only be implemented in exchange for the permanent abolition of income tax.
  • Social Issues
    • Same-Sex Marriage - There’s really no question here, this is not a civil rights issue. Marriage has always been a sacred institution between one man and one woman. This fundamental societal unit should be protected. The only way to do this is through an ammendment to the U.S. Constitution. Such an ammendment would not prevent individual states from allowing civil unions. Re-defining marriage in any way is a really bad idea, it opens the flood gates and makes anything anyone wants to do perfectly acceptable. So if someone wants to marry an animal, that’s OK, if someone wants to marry their brother/sister/cousin, well who can say that’s wrong. If an adult wanted to “marry” a child, that too would have to be accepted. Don’t believe me, it’s already happening, Google “triad marriage”. We need a Federal Marriage Ammendment NOW!

OK, let the flaming arrows fly.

No more blue Sno-Cones?!?

I just heard on Fox & Friends this morning that the Kansas City Zoo will no longer be selling blue Sno-Cones.  Now Blue Raspberry happens to be my favorite Sno-Cone flavor, so I’m obviously distraught about this news.  Now why is the zoo no longer serving blue Sno-Cones?  Is it because people don’t like blue? No, it’s because their employees are too stupid to read the labels on the syrup bottles.  Yes, that’s right, a zoo employee couldn’t tell the difference between Blue Raspberry Sno-Cone flavoring and industrial cleaner.  This mistake caused the poisoning of several zoo patrons.  Of course, the bottles are clearly labelled, so if the employee had been able to read, this never would have happened.  Really, is it that hard to read product labels?  OK, I’m done ranting, leave your comments.

If I were President…

If I were President, I wouldn’t bail out poorly managed companies.  I also wouldn’t partner with the Unions who are responsible for the dreadful state of the U.S. Auto Industry.  Yes, that’s right, I’m anti-union.  I’d also have the following platform points:

  • Fiscal Responsibility
    • No company is “too big to fail” - Yes, this is tough medicine to swallow, but it is necessary, yes, people will hurt, but they will hurt more and longer if the Government micromanages their lives
    • The budget must be balanced - This means passing the Balanced Budget Ammendment, this also means doing away with earmarks and pork.  Yes, this also means capping, and probably reducing Congressional salaries, live with it.
    • A fair and intelligent tax policy - Less taxes = more prosperity.
    • States will not receive handouts from Washington - Fix your budgets or fail, California, I’m looking at you.
  • Social Policy
    • Embryonic Stem Cells - No more garbage science, there is no future in embryonic stem cells, therefore such research will be illegal in the U.S.
    • Stem Cell Research - Increased funding for adult origin stem cells, pluripotent stem cells can now be derived from adult skin cells, and this research shows a lot of promise
    • No taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood - Suck it up and deal!
  • Immigration
    • Mexico - Erect a 20 ft tall fence from the Pacific Ocean to El Paso, TX, dig a 20 ft deep, 50 ft wide, concrete lined trench on the North side of the fence, line the top of the trench with razor wire. Let people climb the fence if they want to.  A patrol can clear people out of the bottom of the trench every couple of days, and deport them instantly. Problem solved.
    • No taxpayer funding of education and services for illegal aliens - This would be a crime under my administration, California, I’m looking at you again.
    • Streamline the citizenship process for legal immigrants - America is a country of immigrants, and should remain free and open.
    • Law Enforcement - The ICE database should be accessible to all state and local Law Enforcement agencies, checking the immigration status of arrested suspects should be standard procedure, and easy to do.
    • Make English the Official Language - Other countries have official languages, why can’t we? Heck, France even has a Language Purification Bureau, the least we could do is require everyone to read and write English.
  • Science & Technology
    • High-Speed Internet - 256Kbps is NOT high-speed. I propose a minimum Internet Speed of 20 Mbps for $10/mo. and fiber to the home in every city with 50,000 people or more. South Korea and Japan offer 50 Mbps for about $10/mo. It is ridiculous that the U.S. trails the world in broadband speed and access.
    • Tax Incentives for High-Tech Companies - The U.S. once led the world in technology, we should again. If corporate taxes are lowered to competitive rates, companies will relocate to the U.S.  This will increase jobs.

That’s just for starters, maybe I should run in 2012…

I’m back

Well, life has been rough lately, so I haven’t done anything with this site in a VERY long time.  I have come to realize though, that I have to be more diligent about posting.  I’m actually embarrassed that my digital footprint is so small.  A search of Google suggests that I might not really exist, time to fix that.

The Silence is Broken

I haven’t posted anything in a very long time.  I really have nothing to say, which makes this post more substantive than 99.99% of the stuff on Facebook.  That’s good enough for me.

(Not the) End of the World Party

So while we’re on the subject of the world (not) ending today, I’m announcing my plan to hold a “The World Didn’t End Yesterday” party on December 22, 2012.  This party will be dedicated to all of the worshippers of the Mayan Codex out there.  You see, according to several latter day “prophets”, the Mayans predicted the end of the world (which will occur on December 21, 2012).  This, of course is based upon the fact that the Mayan calendar accurately records dates from the beginning of their civilization to December 21, 2012.  Then, it abruptly stops.  Thus, “obviously” the apocalypse will come on December 21, 2012.  Of course the Bible (which is rejected a priori) records that Jesus (whom they say, also a priori, can’t possibly God Incarnate, who of course, they’ve determined, again a priori, doesn’t exist) said no one, not even himself, pre-asscension, knows the day or hour of the Judgment.  But I suppose that we shouldn’t let details bother us.

Just to be clear, this present world will end, this will happen when Jesus Christ bodily returns in glory and Judgment.  This will happen at a time when no one expects, and it will be after the Tribulation.  There will be no secret Rapture of Christians.  Those Christians who are alive at that time will go through the turmoil of the Tribulation, but will not face the final Judgment.  Got that?  Anyone who sets a date for these events is lying, period.
