Fresh from the Mind of McPhitty

If I were President…

If I were President, I wouldn’t bail out poorly managed companies.  I also wouldn’t partner with the Unions who are responsible for the dreadful state of the U.S. Auto Industry.  Yes, that’s right, I’m anti-union.  I’d also have the following platform points:

  • Fiscal Responsibility
    • No company is “too big to fail” - Yes, this is tough medicine to swallow, but it is necessary, yes, people will hurt, but they will hurt more and longer if the Government micromanages their lives
    • The budget must be balanced - This means passing the Balanced Budget Ammendment, this also means doing away with earmarks and pork.  Yes, this also means capping, and probably reducing Congressional salaries, live with it.
    • A fair and intelligent tax policy - Less taxes = more prosperity.
    • States will not receive handouts from Washington - Fix your budgets or fail, California, I’m looking at you.
  • Social Policy
    • Embryonic Stem Cells - No more garbage science, there is no future in embryonic stem cells, therefore such research will be illegal in the U.S.
    • Stem Cell Research - Increased funding for adult origin stem cells, pluripotent stem cells can now be derived from adult skin cells, and this research shows a lot of promise
    • No taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood - Suck it up and deal!
  • Immigration
    • Mexico - Erect a 20 ft tall fence from the Pacific Ocean to El Paso, TX, dig a 20 ft deep, 50 ft wide, concrete lined trench on the North side of the fence, line the top of the trench with razor wire. Let people climb the fence if they want to.  A patrol can clear people out of the bottom of the trench every couple of days, and deport them instantly. Problem solved.
    • No taxpayer funding of education and services for illegal aliens - This would be a crime under my administration, California, I’m looking at you again.
    • Streamline the citizenship process for legal immigrants - America is a country of immigrants, and should remain free and open.
    • Law Enforcement - The ICE database should be accessible to all state and local Law Enforcement agencies, checking the immigration status of arrested suspects should be standard procedure, and easy to do.
    • Make English the Official Language - Other countries have official languages, why can’t we? Heck, France even has a Language Purification Bureau, the least we could do is require everyone to read and write English.
  • Science & Technology
    • High-Speed Internet - 256Kbps is NOT high-speed. I propose a minimum Internet Speed of 20 Mbps for $10/mo. and fiber to the home in every city with 50,000 people or more. South Korea and Japan offer 50 Mbps for about $10/mo. It is ridiculous that the U.S. trails the world in broadband speed and access.
    • Tax Incentives for High-Tech Companies - The U.S. once led the world in technology, we should again. If corporate taxes are lowered to competitive rates, companies will relocate to the U.S.  This will increase jobs.

That’s just for starters, maybe I should run in 2012…

I’m back

Well, life has been rough lately, so I haven’t done anything with this site in a VERY long time.  I have come to realize though, that I have to be more diligent about posting.  I’m actually embarrassed that my digital footprint is so small.  A search of Google suggests that I might not really exist, time to fix that.
